Adoption Process

Every kitten is tested for Feline Leukemia and adult cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV.  All cats are de-wormed, de-fleaed and have received a Distemper vaccine.

Step One:

Once you’ve made the decision to add a new member to your family, and have found the perfect kitty for you, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire.  The questions asked are very important in the process.

Step Two:

Once the questionnaire is reviewed, you will be required to complete an Adoption Agreement which is the binding contract between you and Kindred Kitties.  Adoption fees are as follows:  Cats over 1 year old are $60 each, (2 cats for $100).  Kittens up to 1 year old – $80 each (2 kittens for $120)

Step Three:

Make sure you have everything you need for your new family member before you bring your kitten or cat home. A volunteer will be able to assist you.  Here is a list of things you will need:

  • Litter pan, litter and scooper
  • Food (dry and/or wet) appropriate for the age of your kitty
  • Food and water bowls
  • Toys (for socializing)
  • Bed or blanket
  • A quiet secure room for them to become acclimated with their new home
  • Lots of love and affection

Step Four:

A volunteer will usually call you during the first month to see how the adoption is going. If you do not get a call feel free to call one of the numbers on your agreement with questions or to let us know how you are doing.  A home visit may also be a part of this step.
