Exciting News

On April 15th, 2024, Kindred Kitties purchased a commercial building at 3200 Sheridan Road in Kenosha to be the future home of Kindred Kitties. The building had five suites of offices with three suites occupied by tenants.  As time and funds allow, we will continue expanding into the space, but for now, in Phase One of occupancy, we will occupy two suites.  One suite will house an intake room, foster supplies, administrative office space, and event storage.  The other suite will be our adoption center.

Since August 22nd, when the conditional use permit was approved, we’ve been busy preparing the space for the cats’ arrival.  Over Labor Day weekend volunteers painted the walls and a week later, the new flooring was installed. On September 22nd, the first phase of the move from 59th Street was completed as volunteers transferred the items from the basement to our new location.  On October 7th, the Kenosha Common Council approved our application for an indoor kennel license, and on October 19th, 2024, we officially moved to 3200 Sheridan Road!  After letting the cats and volunteers adjust to the new space for a few weeks, the Adoption Center resumed regular drop-in visiting hours on November 9th, 2024.  The kitties seem to love life at 3200! Please stop by and check out their new digs!

As of November 1st, 2024, another suite within the building has become available.  With this exciting news, plans are already underway for Phase Two of our occupancy.  Phase Two will include expanding the current Adoption Center by creating more calm cat rooms, and enlarging the community cat space. We are planning an open house in January to celebrate the new year at the new center and to share the plans for future expansion within the building.  Please stay tuned for more information on this event.

A big THANK YOU to all those who have helped us along the way.  From those who attended the City Plan committee meeting in support of us obtaining the conditional use permit, to those who did the heavy lifting moving items to the new space. We would like to thank the Kindred Kitties planning team who spent many hours planning and designing the new adoption center and developing a timeline for our official move to 3200.  We would also like to thank the volunteers who helped prepare the new building for occupancy, putting in many hours cleaning, prepping, priming, painting, and installing flooring.

Lastly, we would like to thank all who helped us monetarily.  Your generous support for Kindred Kitties was so humbling and we are grateful for it.
