Is Fostering Right For Me?

What Does Fostering Mean and How Will It Impact Me?

What exactly does fostering mean? It means bringing a homeless cat into your home, caring for them, providing them with affection and socialization, until a permanent family comes along who will love them forever.

Fostering: Good for the Mind, Good for the Soul!

Do you love cats and understand their needs? Fostering a cat or kittens can be one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have.

  • Families foster to teach their children compassion and responsibility in a hands-on, meaningful way.

  • Seniors foster to enjoy the love and companionship of a cat without the lifelong commitment of ownership.

  • Some people foster because they’re considering adoption—and there’s no better way to find your perfect match than by getting to know a cat in your home first.

The payback? The unconditional love and gratitude that only a kitty in need can give.

The number of cats and kittens we can help depends directly on how many foster homes we have. Please consider opening your home and heart to a foster kitty—this is a critical and urgently needed role.

What You Provide, and What We Provide

As a foster, your primary role is to provide for the daily needs of your foster cat or kittens—fresh food and water, clean litter, a safe and cozy space, and plenty of kindness and affection. Kindred Kitties covers all veterinary care (you’ll just need to handle transportation) and supplies food, litter, and necessary equipment.

Many of our rescued cats and kittens are strays, so your love and patience during their adjustment period is essential. You’ll help them learn to trust humans and prepare them for adoption.

When your kitty is ready for a forever home, you'll coordinate with our Foster Coordinator and bring them to adoption events. Your insights about your foster kitty’s personality are invaluable in helping us find their perfect match.

Wait a Minute ... I Can't Foster:

  • I'm Too Busy

Fostering doesn’t have to take over your life. Many of our fosters work full-time, go to school, or have families. We match animals to your availability—some need a few weeks, others just need a weekend.

  • I'm Too Old / Too Young

There’s no age limit on compassion. Teens can foster with a parent or guardian. Seniors make amazing fosters, offering calm, stable homes.

  • I Don't Have Enough Money

Fostering shouldn’t cost you a dime, just your time. We provide food, litter, and medical care. You provide love and a safe space.

  • I'd Never Be Able to Let Them Go

It’s hard, yes. But seeing your foster find their forever home? That joy is worth it. And when one goes home, you get to save another.

  • I Just Wouldn’t Know What To Do

That’s why we’re here. We offer support, guidance, and resources every step of the way.

So, Change a Life, Save a Life, & Become a Foster Today!
